Video and Audio Translation

Codex supports workflows for subtitle translation, audio recording, transcription, and media-aware export. These workflows depend on both the imported source format and the project's media storage strategy.

Subtitle Translation

1. Open Navigation.
2. Click Add Source File.
3. Choose Source Files.
4. Select Subtitles.
5. Import a .vtt or .srt file.
6. Translate each timestamped cell.
7. Export to SRT or WebVTT when finished.

Subtitle exports preserve cue timing. WebVTT exports can preserve styling or output plain text depending on the selected format.

Audio Projects

Audio imports create cells linked to audio content. Depending on project setup, you can transcribe audio, translate the text, record target audio, and validate audio separately from text.

Cell audio tools can include:

• Play audio.
• Record target audio.
• Rerecord or remove audio.
• Transcribe speech to text.
• Validate audio.
• Use a countdown before recording starts.

Media Storage

Before starting a media-heavy project, review Media and Storage. Auto Download Media, Stream & Save, and Stream Only affect offline playback and export reliability.

Export Media Work

1. Open the Main Menu.
2. Click Export.
3. Select the file group.
4. Choose a subtitle, round-trip, text, data, or audio export option.
5. For audio deliverables, choose the audio options you need, such as timestamps or Consolidate by Character.
6. Select milestones if the wizard asks for a range.
7. Choose the destination folder and export.

Review Checklist

• Confirm translated text fits timing constraints.
• Review speaker labels before excluding or preserving them.
• Play sample exports before delivering the full project.
• Validate audio when your project requires audio review.
• Keep a backup before large media exports.
